About

Alicia Bell has over 7 years of practical and educational experience in the training and fitness industry.

Her qualifications include receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in 2005, in Kinesiology from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada.

Athletics

Since 1997, Alicia has also attended multiple High School, Provincial, Canadian National, Canada Games and

Canadian University levels in Track and field as an elite athlete.  She is a former New Brunswick sprint champion in the 100m, 200m and 400m distances. Alicia competed  for  4 years in a row as an athlete at the Canadian U17 Nationals from 1997 -2000, the 2001 Canadian Junior Championships, as well as the 2005 Canada Summer Games and 2006 Canadian Senior Championships  just to name a few.
Alicia keeps many Olympians as close friends and has had the opportunity to train and compete against many of Canada’s top Track and Field Athletes. Some of her former training partners include Adrienne Power (Team Canada Member, Canadian 200m Champion and 2008 Olympian), Esther Akinsule ( 2x Canadian 200m and 400m Champion and Team Canada Member), and Brian Cummings (Former Canadian Junior 400m Champion and Team Canada Member).
Alicia also competes in surf lifeguarding competitions and fitness competitions. She was a National medalist in many events and the National Beach Flag Champion in 2003 and runner up in 2006. For further information see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surf_lifesaving

Coaching

Alicia has a varied and in depth coaching background. She was the former coach at Queen Elizabeth High School in

Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, where she led the team to multiple banners. She is also the former Head Sprint Coach for the Tiger Track and Field Club out of Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and a former elite coach at the prestigious Canadian club of the Ottawa Lions.

Alicia has coached at two U17 Nationals, in 2005 in Edmonton and 2006 in Burnaby, for team Nova Scotia. One of her athletes, Emma Pink, medaled at the World Jewish Games in 2005.  Alicia has also had many athletes go one to succeed at the University level in track and field, including former Team Canada Member, Geoff Harris http://www.geoffharris.ca

As a coach, Alicia has had the opportunity to work with elite level Canadian Coaches for many years.  Her mentors have included many of Canadian Track and Field elite coaches such as Glenroy Gilbert (1996 Olympic gold medalist in the 4×100m from Atlanta), Craig Taylor (Canadian Bobsleigh Coach and former Ottawa Lions coach as well as Glenroy’s former coach), Hugh Conlin (Team Canada Coach for many years) as well as Dan Hennigar (former CIS Champion athlete and former Head Coach of Dalhousie University).

Personal Training

Alicia has worked all over Canada with a wide variety of clients of all ages and different goals. She has had the opportunity to work with many Olympic level athletes in Track and Field as both coach and trainer. She has also had the opportunity to train NBA Slam Dunk Champion Dwight Howard.  She is

experienced in athletic Annual Planning to help athletes prepare for major competitions and peaking.

Besides working with athletes to achieve their goals, Alicia has an in depth background working with all types of clients all over Canada. Some of these clients have included cancer patients, specifically Breast Cancer Patients. Some of her work has included lifestyle coaching for these patients at the Ottawa Hospital.

Her areas of expertise include weight loss, speed training, plyometrics, Olympic lifting, circuit training, traditional weight training and interval training. The type of workouts Alicia prescribes are individually geared and specialized  to make sure that you achieve your goals healthily and efficiently. Alicia’s extensive experience and passion for fitness as well as her background in track and field as a coach and an athlete ensures that everyone working with her will receive the best program to suit their needs, whether it be in athletic achievement or simply for a healthier lifestyle.
